General Assistance:
  • United Way 2-1-1: Call 2-1-1 to connect with local resources. Chat online with specialist. Text your zip code to 898-211. 
  • Hennepin County: Contact Hennepin County for financial assistance, grocery and household supplies, medical care, clothing or medication, 612-348-3000.  
  • Arc Minnesota Resource List: Visit Arc Minnesota's extensive list of resources specific to the disabled and differently-abled community during this crisis.
Emergency Rental Assistance:
  • VEAP: Emergency housing assistance, food shelf, and other services, 952-888-9616.
  • Hennepin County:  You can’t be evicted right now, but you still owe rent. Hennepin County can help. Access online or by phone at: 612-302-3160.

  • HomeHelpMN.org: If you are behind on your mortgage or worried about foreclosure due to the pandemic, HomeHelpMN from Minnesota Housing may be able to help. Visit HomeHelpMN.org or call 1-800-388-3226 to see if you qualify for financial assistance.
  • 1How Banks are Responding: Information about how banks are supporting their customers the COVID-19 outbreak.
  • Neighborhood Development Alliance (NeDA): English and Spanish-speaking, HUD-approved housing counselors, financial counseling and homeownership resources: nedahome.org or, 651-292-0131.

Emergency Support / Cash Assistance:

  • Hennepin County: Contact Hennepin County for financial assistance, grocery and household supplies, medical care, clothing or medication, 612-348-3000.  
  • CLUES: providing cash assistance to immigrant households who may not qualify for the federal stimulus cash relief. 651-768-0000.
  • Springboard for the Arts: Personal emergency relief fund available for artists.
  • Bartender Emergency Assistance: Apply for a grant - for eligible bartenders and their families.

Food Support

Free Meals and Food Pantries
  • VEAP: Emergency housing assistance, food shelf, and other services, 952-888-9616.
  • MN Food Helpline: 1-888-711-1151, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Multilingual assistance. They assess your situation and provide solutions to help meet your family’s food needs.
  • Loaves & Fishes at Hope Presbyterian Church (M-TH) and Woodlake Lutheran Church (Sat & Sun), Free “Grab & Go” meals, 5 to 6 p.m.
  • SNAP: Apply for long-term food benefits through the State of Minnesota.

Grocery Stores offering delivery
  • Hy-Vee:  Hy-Vee has next-day curbside pickup or delivery                                        
  • Cub Foods: Cub has grocery delivery and store pickup options                                          
  • Target: Target offers same day delivery as well as order pick up                               
  • Walmart: Walmart offers delivery and pickup options. $30 minimum.                         
  • Instacart: Same day grocery delivery service with access to multiple grocers (Cub, Aldi, Lunds & Byerlys)           
  • Help at Your Door: Provides grocery assistance to seniors and persons with disabilities.      

Utility Bill Support
  • Energy Assistance: help with utility bill payments from the State of Minnesota and Community Action Partnership. Income limits apply.
  • Xcel Energy: will indefinitely suspend service disconnections and waive late fees when associated with COVID-19 challenges. Call 1-800-895-4999.
  • CenterPoint Energy:  working with customers during the COVID-19 outbreak. Call 1-800-245-2377.
  • Water Bill Assistance: Help with outstanding water bills from Community Action Partnership.

Senior Resources
  • Meals on Wheels: Sliding scale fees (or free) for delivered meals.
  • Senior Community Services: offering outreach to seniors and caregivers during the COVID-19 outbreak. Call 612-770-7005.
  • Senior Linkage Line: Helps connect seniors with various community resources and supports. Call 800-333-2433.
  • Metro Mobility: Offering free grocery delivery to existing clients. 651-602-1111

  • Virtuwell: No-charge coronavirus-assessments
  • CDC Symptom Checker: check your symptoms online
  • MNsure: Special enrollment period for qualified individuals who are currently without insurance. Special enrollment period runs Monday, March 23 - Tuesday, April 21.

Mental and Emotional Health Resources

Unemployment Insurance 
  • Minnesota Unemployment Insurance: If your work hours have been reduced or eliminated, apply for unemployment insurance from the State of Minnesota. The usual waiting period has been waived. If you are sick, quarantined, or home because of an outbreak at your work, you qualify for unemployment. If you stay home due to lack of child care, you may qualify for unemployment.
