TREE PLANTING

Each year, the City plants approximately 200 trees on City boulevards and in parks. If you are interested in receiving a boulevard tree in 2024, please contact Richfield Public Works at 612-861-9170.

TREE REMOVALS (as needed/continuous)

City crews and contractors are currently removing city owned diseased, dead/dying, hazardous, and storm damaged trees.

TREE INSPECTIONS (continuous)

Richfield's Arborist provides tree inspections for trees on public property. The City Arborist conducts daily monitoring of public and private property trees for diseases and pests. For a free consultation of your boulevard tree with the Arborist, contact Public Works at 612-861-9170 to set up an appointment. For consultations of ash trees on private property, please contact an ISA certified tree contractor. A list of local certified contractors can be found on the Tree Contractors page.

TREE INJECTIONS

Forestry team members are actively treating boulevard ash trees with products to prevent the infestation of Emerald Ash Borer. Team members also periodically treat the 300+ oak trees at Augsburg Park to control the native pest, two-lined-chestnut-borer.

More information on the Emerald Ash Borer can be found on the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Information page.

TREE PRUNING

Crews will be pruning boulevard trees this fall/winter as part of our tree maintenance program. City crew members also complete trimming/pruning requests during summer months on an availability schedule. Tree species also has an influence on the timing of trimming/pruning of trees.
