Current Police Patch
The Richfield Police Department was established in 1937 and has a proud and distinguished tradition of excellent community service for over 75 years. The mission of the Richfield Police Department is to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve, to reduce the incidence and fear of crime, and to enhance public safety while working with the community to improve their quality of life.

I assure you that the men and women of Richfield Public Safety are committed to successfully accomplishing this mission with courage, integrity, hard work, and professionalism. I have been a member of this department since 1990 and have seen many changes; however, there has been one constant throughout our history: outstanding police officers. The men and women of the Richfield Police Department make it one of the finest police departments in the State of Minnesota. They are truly committed to this mission and dedicated to serving the citizens of Richfield.

Impartial Policing

The Richfield Police Department works collaboratively with the community and local, state and federal agencies to enforce state laws and local ordinances.  The Richfield Police Department does not have federal jurisdictional authority to enforce federal immigration laws nor has it ever been its practice to do so.  Furthermore, the Richfield Police Department has never, nor does it intend to, ask the status of our community members.  We are, however, obligated by federal law to notify federal authorities in instances where a person being arrested by Richfield police officers, for a violation of state or local laws we are tasked to enforce, has a federal detainer, warrant or alert assigned by a federal authority. Police Patch Requests

The city’s police department receives numerous requests for our official uniform patches from collectors and other law enforcement enthusiasts. The uniform patches of the Richfield Police Department are restricted. Patches are purchased with city funds, and for security reasons, it is our policy to only issue uniform patches to authorized employees of the department. They are not currently available to the public or available for purchase.
