PROPOSED PROJECTS

VETERAN'S PARK SIGN VARIANCE

Indigo Signs, on behalf of the Richfield Parks and Recreation Department, is requesting two variances in order to replace an existing freestanding sign at Veteran’s Park that is located in front of the outdoor pool building, near the intersection of 66th Street and Park Avenue. The replacement sign would contain a dynamic display. The sign code only allows one dynamic display per property and there is already one existing sign with a dynamic display on the other side of Veteran’s Park, located at the intersection of Portland Avenue and 64th Street. Therefore, the addition of a second dynamic display requires a variance.

The second variance that the applicant is requesting is to allow the property to exceed the maximum allowable total area of all freestanding signage on site.  All freestanding signage on site is limited to 100 square feet. While each of the four freestanding signs at Veteran’s Park meet the individual size and height requirements , they cumulatively exceed the 100 square foot maximum by 39 square feet. The proposed replacement sign is smaller and would reduce total square footage to 130 square feet.

COMPLETED PROJECTS

MSP COMMERCIAL
MSP Commercial is a construction company that relocated their offices from Eagan to 6436 Penn Avenue.  The company did an extensive remodel of the building - both exterior and interior - to convert the space from a wholesale business to professional offices.  The freestanding sign was moved to a better location (that doesn't conflict with utilities) and the vehicular access to Penn Avenue was combined with the liquor store's access, for simplified circulation and traffic flow.
