Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)

An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is a smaller self-contained residential unit with its own entrance, living space, kitchen and bathroom on the same lot as the primary house. They can be located in basements, above garages, in attics, or as additions. Homeowners choose to add ADU's for a variety of reasons- for rental income, aging parents or special needs children, or to downsize in retirement.
