Domestic Partnership Registration
In 2011 the City of Richfield established a domestic partnership registry. The domestic partnership registry is a means by which unmarried, committed couples who reside or work in Richfield and who share a life and home together may document their relationship. Please see Section 120 of the Richfield City Code for more information.
Domestic Partnership Registration
- Domestic Partnership Registration Form
- Both partners must sign the document
- Document must be notarized
- Registration fee of $30
- Domestic Partnership Certificates will be mailed to the applicants no sooner than three days following application
Amendment to Domestic Partnership Registration
- Amendment to Domestic Partnership Registration Form
- Both partners must sign and have their signatures notarized
- Used to amend a portion of the registration form (e.g. change of address)
- Not to be used to terminate or exchange partners
- Amendments are effective immediately
Termination of Domestic Partnership
- The applicant must complete a Termination of Domestic Partnership Form AND an Affidavit of Service Form
- Either of the partners may request to terminate the partnership
- Termination becomes effective 45 days after filing the form with the City Clerk
- The domestic partner requesting termination must inform the other and present and Affidavit of Service Form as proof that they informed the other party
- Following 45 days either of the terminated partners may re-register with a new partner but must pay the $30 fee and file a new Domestic Partnership Registration Application
