Mayor - 4-year Term expiring 12/31/2022

Council At-Large - 4-year Term expiring 12/31/2022

Candidate filing opens on May 22, 2018 and closes on June 5, 2018.
Hours to file are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for June 5, 2018 which the hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

**Please note that Monday, May 28, 2018 is a national holiday. All administrative offices will be closed. However, nominating petitions may be circulated and signed from May 22 through June 5, 2018.

2018 Elections

Primary Election        August 14, 2018

General Election    November 6, 2018

Polling locations are open on Election Day for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Vote Absentee

  • Richfield residents can No-Excuse Absentee Vote for the Primary Election at:

Richfield Municipal Center Information Desk starting Friday, June 29th, 2018.  

Hours for voting are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed Saturday and Sunday.

  • You can request an application by calling 612-861-0580 or visit to request an application online.

Direct Balloting

  • Richfield voters can directly place their ballots into a ballot counter when voting in person starting:  Tuesday, August 7th through Monday, August 13th, 2018 for the Primary Election.

Direct Ballot Voting Hours:
August 7 - 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

August 8 - 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

August 9 - 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

August 10 - 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

August 11 - 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

August 12 - CLOSED

August 13 - 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

  • Have confidence that a ballot is immediately counted
  • Verify ballot was properly filled out and accepted by the counting machine
  • Avoid hassle of placing absentee ballots in series of envelopes
