Tree trimming on 65th Street
- Date: 12/09/2017 11:30 AM - 5:00 PM
On Saturday, December 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. the city’s Public Works Department will be coordinating tree trimming on 65th Street between Rae and Woodlake Drives. No parking will be allowed on either side of the street.
“Many of the trees on the periphery of Richfield Lake Park have become overgrown and are encroaching on the street,” said Public Works Operations Superintendent Chris Link. “We are performing a cleanup of these trees to improve the pedestrian traffic experience, as well as improve visibility for motorists.”
The trimming needs to be completed prior to the 66th Street reconstruction project continuing in the spring. Sixty-Fifth Street will be a detour route and the trees will be an obstruction to vehicles and pedestrians if not addressed.
The tree trimming will be performed by a private contractor.
With the changing of the weather, the Public Works Department’s priorities change from construction-based projects to tree trimming, snow removal and ice rink maintenance.
